Gainsborough House Print Workshop Exhibition

Today I was at the Gainsborough House Print Workshop exhibition at St Peter’s church in Sudbury. I am a member of the print workshop myself and I’m exhibiting myself – here is one of my linocuts inspired by family holidays at Southwold. We have many happy memories of going there with the children when they were small.

St Peter’s is a wonderful space for exhibitions and nicely situated for people passing by as it is very near the town square. I was sitting down at the entrance today stewarding and some very charming and interesting people came in. The show is tremendously varied and of a very high standard. The printmakers at Gainsborough are a very supportive crowd and help each other improve their work. The courses are of a very high standard – I particularly love Annabel Ridley‘s annual photo stencilling week – I get so much done ¬†and Annabel is fantastically generous with her time and knowledge.

Photo Stencil

This is a photo stencil I made on one of Annabel’s courses – I will explain more about the process tomorrow – it’s very interesting and very versatile.
